Responsibilities of the Buyer:

  • Payment: The buyer is responsible for paying for the cat and any shipping fees.
  • Supervision: The buyer agrees to provide proper supervision and not allow the cat outdoors without appropriate safety measures (supervised outdoor time or secure enclosures).
  • Humane Care: The buyer commits to caring for the cat in a humane manner, including providing adequate food, water, shelter, attention, veterinary care, and appropriate enrichment activities.
  • Guarantee and Liability: The buyer understands that the breeder provides guarantees about the cat's temperament but is not responsible for future damages or injuries caused by the cat.
  • Monitoring: The breeder has permission to contact the buyer to ensure the cat is being properly treated and cared for.

Seller's Guarantees:

  • Health and Registration: The seller guarantees the cat's sound health and provides registration paperwork with appropriate cat registry organizations (CFA, TICA, or other recognized feline registries).
  • Temperament: The seller ensures that the cat has a great temperament at the time of sale.
  • Health Records: The seller provides a complete health record of all vaccinations, deworming treatments, and any other medical care provided.

Physical Examination and Refund:

  • Veterinary Examination: The buyer agrees to take the cat to a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of delivery for a comprehensive physical examination.
  • Refund Policy: If the licensed veterinarian determines that the cat has health issues caused by the seller, the buyer can return the cat for a full refund, with the seller covering the return expenses.

Buyer's Options and Responsibilities:

  • Rehoming Option: If the buyer needs to give up the cat, the seller should be notified first, giving them the first option to resume full ownership and find a new home for the cat.
  • Money-Back Guarantee: The buyer has a 30-day money-back guarantee, with a full refund if they are not satisfied with the cat or have difficulties bonding with it.
  • Transfer Approval: The breeder/seller reserves the right to approve or prohibit any transfer of the animal to a third party.
  • Prohibited Facilities: The cat should not be sold, leased, traded, or given to any pet shop, research laboratory, animal shelter, or similar facility without prior written consent from the seller.

Additional Cat-Specific Considerations:

  • Spay/Neuter Agreement: Unless purchased for breeding purposes with explicit written agreement, the buyer agrees to spay or neuter the cat if and only if indicated as not yet fixed by the seller.
  • Indoor Housing: The buyer agrees to keep the cat primarily indoors or in secure outdoor enclosures to ensure safety and longevity.
  • Scratching and Declawing: The buyer agrees to provide appropriate scratching surfaces and commits to never declawing the cat, as this practice is considered inhumane.
